Cthulhu is a titanic cosmic entity created by H.P. Lovecraft, first appearing in the 1928 short story The Call of Cthulhu. Often described as a hybrid of octopus, dragon, and human caricature, this Great Old One lies in a death-like slumber within the sunken city of R'lyeh beneath the Pacific Ocean. His incomprehensible form and presence are said to drive those who witness him to madness, as he awaits the alignment of the stars to return.
