Jor-El is a brilliant Kryptonian scientist and the biological father of Superman. Realising that his home planet of Krypton is on the brink of imminent destruction due to an unstable core, he desperately tries to warn the stubborn ruling council. Failing to convince them, he and his wife Lara construct a small spacecraft to launch their infant son, Kal-El, safely to Earth just before the planet explodes.
