The very first episode of Batman the animated series is titled "On Leather Wings" Dr. Langstrom is a zoologist and geneticist who specializes in bat sonar research. His goal is to create a serum that would allow humans to harness the heightened senses of bats. Langstrom tests an experimental serum on himself and undergoes a horrifying transformation into a giant bat-like creature, known as Manbat!
