In Kingdom Come, an older, disillusioned Superman returns from a decade of exile to a world overrun by reckless, violent meta-humans. Donning a sombre red-and-black crest, he reforms the Justice League to forcibly restore his traditional moral order, struggling to prove that his "outdated" idealism still has a place in a cynical, modern age.
