Varang is the leader and spiritual matriarch of the Mangkwan, a nomadic Na'vi clan known as the "Ash People," who inhabit the volcanic regions of Pandora. Portrayed by Oona Chaplin in Avatar: Fire and Ash, she is a formidable antagonist who has been hardened by the harsh conditions of her environment and a deep-seated resentment toward the natural order of Eywa. Unlike the forest or reef clans, Varang is depicted as aggressive and pragmatic, eventually forming a dangerous alliance with Colonel Miles Quaritch and utilizing human technology to wage war against her fellow Na'vi.
